the boy’s room

I’m still having a hard time letting go of my coral and aqua nursery color scheme. Tear.

A few minor tweaks (removing all traces of pink/red/coral) would have converted the room into a gender neutral playground, but I just wasn’t feeling the aqua and yellow for a little man. I stepped WAY out of my comfort zone planning this room, but I think it’s much more fitting for a little prince. I know it’s not baby-ish, but monkeys and race cars aren’t my thing. Besides, the muted tones and natural textures of some of these pieces will last well into McBaby’s teens. And what teenage boy doesn’t want fox pillows and a cardboard deer head?

PS Those leafy curtains were from our room. I’ve been struggling with how to design around them since they aren’t tones I usually like, so it was a great solution to move them to the nursery. Now maybe I can convince Sean that coral and aqua would work in our bedroom… πŸ™‚
